Rosa Damascena blooms once a year, for a few weeks in springtime, and it is picked by hand in the first hours after sunrise. This retreat is built around that window, when its aromatic potential is at its peak.

From Field to Fragrance

For five days, you follow the rose from morning picking, through steam distillation to perfume creation. Alongside Damascena, you'll meet her quieter sister, Rosa Alba: whiter, waxier, harder to distil, rarer to encounter.

If roses are your passion, this retreat is where it all comes together.

What to Expect

Perfume-Making
Create rose-centred compositions, guided by a guest perfumer. The guest perfumer is to be announced officially in January 2027, and in advance for those who book the experience earlier than January.

The Harvest
Rose-picking of both Damascena and Alba - a real-time olfactory class on how seasons, climate, timing, and tradition shape the yield.

Field Visits & Culture
Visit a local rose oil distillery and the Rose Museum in Kazanlak · An optional visit to the Valley of Thracian Kings and its historical landmarks can be organised upon request at an additional charge.

Retreat, Taste & Relax
Local wine tasting, shared meals · A fragrant gift to take home · Four nights in a 5-star hotel in the Rose Valley · Group transfers, Sofia to Kazanlak and back, 24 & 28 May.

A €300, non-refundable deposit secures your place.
The outstanding balance can be paid in 2 or 3 instalments by the 10th of May 2027.
